Welcome to EVOKE Photography & Video

The Photographers of EVOKE Photography & Video have been photographing weddings in Houston (and surrounding areas) for the past 8 years. In that time, we have worked in almost every church and wedding venue in town. As Wedding Photographers we have had the pleasure to work with many culturally diverse ceremonies and receptions. However, despite all of this experience, none of us have fallen into a pool, or done anything else that might win us a lot of money on Americas Funniest Videos. Please do not be discouraged by this lacking credential. We are certain that you will find the images in our Web Gallery to be to your liking and our Photography Packages to be reasonably priced. Furthermore, we invite you to visit our Studio to discuss the details of your day with one of our coordinators. We have over 50 portfolios for you to view and we are located in Rice Village, just 20 minutes from anywhere in Houston.

Congratulations on your engagement. EVOKE wishes the best for you.

Bridal Photography Session

After all the time you and your Mom spent finding that perfect dress, you deserve your own Bridal Session. Its a photography session dedicated to capturing your moments as a bride. We are able enjoy your session and capture the details in your dress away from the wedding day chaos. Included in all of our packages is your Bridal Portrait for display on the day of the wedding. The Bridal Session is also a perfect trial run of your dress, hair, makeup, and bouquet. And what a great excuse to get dressed up in your dress too!

Planning for your Bridal Session takes some effort and organization. So, get out your calendar and cell phone and start calling to make plans. You need to coordinate your dress, hair, makeup, all the accessories (shoes, jewelry, bouquet), your Portrait Location, your Mom and friends, and of course your photographer. We recommend giving yourself at least 30 minutes of extra time to account for the unexpected Houston traffic. Also, do not for get to check the weather in Houston. During the session, keep in mind you are wearing a white dress, we urge you to be cautious and pickup your dress when you walk indoors and outdoors. And of course, enjoy yourself and have a great time at your session.

Engagement Photography Session

Don't leave the groom out, include him with the Engagement Session. Most couples don't have the opportunity to have a professional photographer photograph themselves. Use this session to get some great moments of you two together. Your Engagement Display Portrait is also included in your package.

The attire you wear for your portrait sessions should reflect you. Don't pick something that you normally don't wear or feel uncomfortable in. If you are a casual couple, nice denim pants and a button down long sleeve shirt will look nice. For a more formal look, we recommend a suit for him and a skirt for her. You should try to avoid any colors that closely resemble your skin tone. We suggest wearing solid colors or simple patterns, since bold or distracting patterns can take attention away from you in the photograph. Keep in mind that the colors you choose will also set the mood and backgrounds for the picture. Generally, light colors will represent a warm mood, while dark colors are more serious and formal. Wear your makeup or jewelry as you naturally do. Remember, these portraits are expressive of who you are.

Wedding Day

Generally, unless otherwise specified, it is best to take as many photographs before the wedding ceremony as possible. The more photographs your photographer takes before the wedding ceremony, the less that must be take after the wedding ceremony; thus allowing you to get to the reception faster. We always recommend starting photography time at least one hour in advance of the wedding ceremony. Before the wedding ceremony, we will photograph all the images we can that do not require the Bride and Groom to see each other. It is best to start photographing the Bride, her Brides Maids, and her immediate family first. (Photographing the Bride's side generally takes longer than the Grooms side, and we would like to finish with the Bride before the guests start arriving.) Directly after photographing the Bride's side, we will then start photographing the Groom, his Grooms Men and his immediate family. It generally takes about 30 minutes to photograph his side. We ask the Bride and Groom to take it upon themselves to inform these people prior to the wedding day, that they will be needed for photographs an hour and half before the ceremony. (It will also be necessary to inform your florist to have the wedding ceremony location decorated one hour in advance.) Once the entire group is gathered, the photographer will start with the photographs.

Photography at the Ceremony

It is a fact that some churches have very strict rules and regulations regarding photography and video taping during your ceremony. The wedding coordinator at your church should provide you with a form that is to be signed by the Photographer and/or Videographer prior to the wedding date. We will do the best job we can within the parameters in which we are allowed to work with.

Photography at the Reception

Generally, unless otherwise specified, after the wedding ceremony has ended, we will take all the Bridal Party and Family photographs with the Bride and Groom at the Alter, or outside of the ceremony location. The preparation of this time is crucial. Photography after the ceremony usually last about 45 minutes. Our goal is to successfully photograph all the traditional family and Bridal Party permutations, and then spend about 20 minutes photographing the formals of the Bride and Groom. Thus, directly after the wedding ceremony has ended, we need all of the immediate families (Bride's and Groom's) and the Bridal Party, including Flower Girls, Ring Bearers and Ushers to return to the Alter for the photographer. We ask that the Bride and Groom inform these people prior to the special day that the photographer will need them directly after the wedding ceremony for group portraits. Once the entire group is gathered, the photographer will start with the photographs.
