Webpage Standards

Thank you for your help working on the EVOKE website! As you work in WordPress, please implement the following standards.

1. Build your pages in WordPress Bakery Page Builder

EVOKE exclusively uses the X Theme and WP Bakery Page Builder to build webpages. If you unfamiliar with X or WP Bakery, check out the links below.

2. No Custom CSS / HTML or Any Code

Please use the native elements in WP Bakery to build your webpages. Do not write any custom code to style your pages. Keep it simple.

3. Test your pages using Google Insights

Once you have designed a new page/post for the EVOKE website, test the load speed using the link below. As a page developer, you are responsible for the load speed of the images you use. Once you run the test, if Google finds that your images can be compressed more (without showing visual signs of compression), you can use the link on the results page to download the optimally compressed jpeg images. We have found that Google’s image compression tool works much better than Photoshop. Look for this link at the bottom of the results page: “Download optimized image, JavaScript, and CSS resources for this page” to download Google’s optimally compressed images. At the completion of your work, your page should not show any image compression errors.

4. Do the SEO Correctly

Each page you design for EVOKE should be complete with all current SEO best practices. EVOKE uses All In One SEO. If you are unfamiliar with this PlugIn, you can find a link below for more information. For each page you design, please complete the Title, Descriptions, & KeyWords. Additionally all images should include descriptive ALT tags. Below are a list of the KeyWords EVOKE uses. IMPORTANT – do not try to overpopulate metadata with too many keywords. Write naturally and in a sincere tone. The keywords should just fall into place for you.
